boot errors


hi there

i have installed arch and everything went fine.

when i choose arch linux in the grub menu it first loads, gets a first FAIL on "mounting root read-only".

then:

Mounting local Filesystems BUSY
warning: cant open /etc/mtab: No such file or directory
mount: cant find / in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
cant create lock file ....
cant create lock file......

Configuring System Clock BUSY
.....

Removing Leftover Files BUSY
......... read only file system
........



.....


and then if i wait for about 4 minutes a login comes up:

Arch Linux 0.6 (widget) ((none)) (vc/1)

(none) login:


there i cant login as root (login incorrect)

what have i done ? =(

I would guess that you are missing your /etc directory in your newly installed system and perhaps much more. I suggest that you write this off as a failed install and install again.

i too am in the same boat, sear. does it have something to do with fstab not having my root partition in it?

whoops, ignore that last post, my bad. But i'm still getting the mtab warning and the mount errors
