Arch Linux Cinnamon desktop hangs after login

Hello. I am currently using the cinnamon desktop with the lightdm. My system boots up fine with all system service showing green on startup. when my system get to the login screen i type in my password and all get is a black screen. Is there anything that can be done.

can you boot switch to another tty with e.g. Ctrl-Alt-F2?
and login with your usual credentials?
if that doesn't work, try to boot into recovery mode.

give us the output of:

i was just helped with today. First at the login screen I hit ctrl+alt+F1 to go to the command line. I signed in as myself then I did sudo pacman -R cinnamon. Then sudo pacman -S cinnamon to reinstall. probably not the right way but it worked.
