Running Qemu in MX Linux

Hello,

To test BIOS compatibility, I installed cpu checker,
then gave command:
sudo kvm-ok

The response was:
INFO: /dev/kvm exists
KVM acceleration can be used

I have installed Qemu, using the following command:

sudo apt install qemu-kvm libvirt-clients libvirt-daemon-system bridge-utils libguestfs-tools genisoimage virtinst libosinfo-bin virt-manager

I seem to get the system installed.
I run the GUI and create a VM,
but ultimately it fails to run,
complaining that:

Error connecting to graphical console:
Error opening Spice console, SpiceClientGtk missing

Any help and tips are much appreciated.

Thank you,
xmx

Have you checked the internet? https://duckduckgo.com/?q=%22SpiceCl...=v169-1&ia=web yields a number of results, including some solutions.

Thanks for reply

Hello berndbausch LQ Guru,

Thank you for reply.

I have been working on this for 5 days.
Many searches on Net.
Any number of knowledgeable folks on various forums helping.

In general solutions for Linux variants using systemd do not seem to work. So for instance, any solutions for Ubuntu probably will not work.

Suggestions like:
sudo apt install spice-client-gtk
does not work

Suggestions like:
sudo apt install virt-manager
does not work

Suggestions like:
sudo apt-get install gir1.2-spice-client-gtk-3.0
does not work

That is just a few of the ideas that I have tried.

Anyway, I have indeed discovered the answer just a little while ago and have the KVM up and running, but it was truly finding a needle in a haystack.

Again, thanks for replying.

Best regards,
xmx
