Speaking of "persistence," I would like to add persistence to a live MX-19.4 USB. How do I do that? I read an article about a simple way to add persistence (damned if I can find it now) that said to copy and paste a file or folder somewhere, reboot to see that the saved file was deleted. Repeat that . . . and I forget what else.

You won't be losing anything if you recreate the boot with a persistent file. That's the only way I've made one, as I don't use them normally. The YUMI tool for Windows makes them perfectly in my experience.
Adding persistence to MX Linux is explained at the link below, starting at Step 6 on that page. I don't use MX and have not done this so have no idea how well it works.
