Exclamation New Antix Update window

Don’t know if this is a Wobble or not…?

Using the software updater from the control panel; this window popped up for the first time. Giving you the choice between Automatic or Manual updating. Manual warns you that it could require you to make choices. I chose manual to see what choices were to be offered - AFAIK the only choice was Y or n to go ahead or not. I answered Y Yes and all seems okay after a reboot then shutdown and restart.
Will wait to see if this new window pops up again at next update.

Some package updates do traditionally ask questions, usually if there is an existing configuration file whose time stamp is later than the earlier package date. In my experience, that's usually the result of an automatic edit by another package, but sometimes there was a hand edit that you want to preserve. This kind of thing can throw newbies who don't know the correct answer. I have a friend who has interrupted AntiX updates once or twice because they got stalled on a question she didn't know the answer to. And of course that messed up her subsequent updates.

I suspect the new wrinkle is to prevent that sort of problem. Presumably if there are no file updates that trigger a question, the "manual" update will be the same as the "automatic" one.

Progress marches on for new users.

If wanting to avoid it.

Code:
sudo apt update
Let it finish. Disregard the pop window and close it. Then

Code:
sudo apt dist-upgrade
For the manual option anyways. If you want the auto. Use the GUI updater box.

Thumbs up Thanks

Code:
sudo apt dist-upgrade
Had never used that command before – thanks.

Discovered you can use - sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade – which is one line for two commands.
Ran the command and got:
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Which was expected after previously running sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade yesterday.
Presume clicking OK in that tiny antix updater window “Your system is now updated” executes Ctrl+D to close terminal properly?

Often have a look at Synaptic reloaded (Status – installed window) as a secondary confirmation that all is OK
Thanks

When I wonder

Code:
sudo apt -f install
That usually fixes unfinished upgrades on dist-upgrade and throws 0 to install when things are kosher.

I get unfinished upgrades sometimes because of high wind power outages in my area. My back up battery power supply is worn out.
