Hello,
I installed Mx Linux 18 64-bit version on a new SSD, part a multi-boot system. I went with a simple configuration: no separate partition for /home, no swap partition (intending to create a swap file afterwards). This system also has a HDD with Linux Mint and Win 10 on it. Just to be safe, I decided not to let MX mess with the boot loader that is currently on the HDD. The installation went fine, no errors or anything and after updating the grub menu from Mint I got two new entries for MX 18 Continuum with an identical name - I'm not sure why there's 2, but no matter.
The problem is that the boot sequence for MX hangs up whichever of the 2 entries in the boot menu I select. The kernel seems to load, peripherals etc but at some point I get this:
Code:
[10.534580] IPv6:ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): et0: link is not ready
[10.5346221] r8169 0000:05:00.0 eth0: Link is Down
[12.639581] r8169 0000:05:00.0 eth0: Link is Up - 1GBps/Full - flow control
[12.639607] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready
...and it just hangs (I can't type anything). I waited for around 5 minutes and nothing.
I'm at a loss because:
a. I had an older version of Xubuntu lying around and I tried installing it on the SSD instead, in the same configuration and it works
b. I had no trouble with LAN during live testing of MX 18
