Wiped Zorin OS from my Dell Latitude E6420 i7 8G Laptop and installed Antix-22 Base version.
Was very surprised to find that with LXDE setup it was returning 225MiB RAM at idle. This was with all but one of the WMs and FMs fully removed with Synaptic along with mtpaint, bluetooth, conky and a few other unwanted packages. Also note no Gimp or Libre Office are bundled with Antix Base. In the absence of Ffox there was some Monkey Mozilla based Web Browser which worked very well.
Quickly got to the point of diminishing returns so I gave up and wiped the drive again installing a Snapshot of my HP G60 Antix-22 Full LXDE.
I do like that Snapshot facility giving full system and all my folders, files, pictures, docs etc without a hitch, even on another computer – totally wicked.
Does this mean I now have my own Antix-LXDE spin or is that a bit too far fetched for a 72 year old pensioner
In any event I am well pleased.
Here are links to some screenshots for mostly Antix-22 Full LXDE with Gimp, Drawing, LO, Ffox-ESR, Hardinfo, openshot, and Screencast Recorder added.
