First let me say I really love 4mLinux, I think it's great. I've been using Puppy Linux for 10 years now but I'm migrating to 4mLinux because I need a server for my web-development stuff. And it's fast, very fast.
Okay, the server stuff in 4mLinux is great. Really. But there's just one thing I miss: a good editor for web development like Geany... Yeah I know Leafpad is included but for writing code it just doesn't suit my needs.
Right now I use Geany with Wine, and it works fine. But I think it's a bit weird to use it that way. And I can't execute programs directly in my browser because it runs on Wine.
I know, I know you can't have everything... but a good HTML editor is something I really miss in 4mLinux. The rest is perfect!
My employer want me to migrate from a code-editor to a 'real' IDE like PHPstorm or Netbeans. I've been using 4mLinux with Geany and then SublimeText, both which i ran through Wine in 4mLinux.
But now I can't use 4mLinux anymore because there is no real IDE available in this distribution. So I'm moving to Semicode right now, which is Ubuntu with a working server. Don't like it, but I have to run a real IDE.
The whole server-part in 4mLinux is the best i've seen for development. Fast, simple and it works 'out of the box'. Adminer is perfect too. But now I have to leave it and I hate it!
Maybe is it an idea to create a 4mLinux 'developers edition' in the future? That would be great and I would migrate back in a moment!
