update and user settings

Hi,

thanks for the new release. I would like to understand better how the update process works. I have done zk update and my actual files are preserved, but settings I have made in /etc have been resetted.

Also, I had to reinstall all extensions after the upgrade.

Greetings
Lioh

Hi,

During major update:
1) The /opt folder is removed to force the update of downloadable extensions.
2) The /etc folder is removed to avoid conflicts with new system settings.
3) Home folders (/root, /home/chrome, ...) stay unattached.

Let's take Chromium as an example. After update you will be forced to install the newest version. However, this new version will be using the old settings stored in the /home/chrome folder (passwords, bookmarks, etc..).

NOTE:
As for system settings, during the update a backup of the /etc folder is created. The backup is kept in the /etc.old directory.

.
