This thread is for tracking the development of the 4MLinux 17.0 series.
4MLinux 17.0 Core BETA released.
This is a core system (only a few MB in size) for the 4MLinux 17.0 series. The system includes: the Linux kernel 4.4.1, GNU C Library 2.22, and BusyBox 1.24.1. The 4MLinux 17.0 series uses GNU Compiler Collection 5.3.0 to compile programs designed for the i686 architecture.
4MLinux 17.0 is ready for testing. Create your documents with LibreOffice 5.1.1.1 and share them using DropBox 3.14.7, surf the Internet with Firefox 44.0.2 and Chromium 50.0.2654.0, stay in touch with your friends via Skype 4.3.0.37 and Thunderbird 38.6.0, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 3.7.1 and aTunes 3.1.2, watch your favorite videos with MPlayer SVN-r37590 and VLC 2.2.2, play games with Xorg 1.18.1/Mesa 11.1.1 support enabled. You can also setup the 4MLinux LAMP Server (Linux 4.4.1, Apache 2.4.18, MariaDB 10.1.11, and PHP 5.6.18). Perl 5.22.1 and Python 2.7.11 are also available.
It's nice to see 4MLinux is going on! Haven't tested it for ages.
Though I couldn't find any way to check the download with a SHAsum; find it weird, not only after what happened to the LinuxMint site. Would you add one so we can check before use please?
Antivirus Live CD 17.0-0.99.1 available for download.
Antivirus Live CD is an official 4MLinux fork including the ClamAV scanner. It's designed for users who need a lightweight live CD, which will help them to protect their computers against viruses. The latest version 17.0-0.99.1 is based on 4MLinux 17.0 and ClamAV 0.99.1.
This is a minor bug-fix release. The /etc/init.d/rcS script has been modified to avoid system freezing when 4MLinux is booted in VirtualBox.
The updated ISO image should be downloaded only by these people, who intend to run 4MLinux 17.0 in virtual machines.
4MRecover is a small live CD designed for data recovery. It's a part of 4MRescueKit, which in turn is one of the three main 4MLinux releases available for download. This version includes TestDisk 7.0 and it uses 4MLinux 17.0 as the base system.
BakAndImgCD is an official 4MLinux fork, which has been designed to perform the following two tasks: data backup (the supported filesystems are: btrfs, ext2, ext3, ext4, f2fs, fat16, fat32, hfs, hfs+, jfs, nilfs2, ntfs, reiser4, reiserfs, and xfs) and disk imaging (using Partimage, Partclone, and GNU ddrescue). This release is based on the 4MLinux Backup Scripts 17.0.
4MParted is a very small live CD designed for disk partitioning. It's a part of 4MRescueKit, which in turn is one of the three main 4MLinux releases available for download. This version includes GParted 0.25.0 and it uses 4MLinux 17.0 as the base system.
4MRescueKit provides its users with software for antivirus protection, data backup, disk partitioning, and data recovery. It is distributed in the form of a multiboot CD, which includes four (extremely small) operating systems. This release has Antivirus Live CD 17.0-0.99.1, BakAndImgCD 17.0, 4MParted 17.0, and 4MRecover 16.0.
TheSSS (The Smallest Server Suite) is a lightweight server suite distributed as a live CD. This release is based on the 4MLinux Server 17.0, meaning that the components of the LAMP server are now: Linux 4.4.1, Apache 2.4.20, MariaDB 10.1.13, and PHP 5.6.20.
The status of the 4MLinux 17.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Create your documents with LibreOffice 5.1.3.1 and share them using DropBox 3.18.1, surf the Internet with Firefox 46.0 and Chromium 50.0.2661.75, stay in touch with your friends via Skype 4.3.0.37 and Thunderbird 45.0, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 3.7.2 and aTunes 3.1.2, watch your favorite videos with MPlayer SVN-r37590 and VLC 2.2.2, play games with Xorg 1.18.1/Mesa 11.1.1 support enabled. You can also setup the 4MLinux LAMP Server (Linux 4.4.1, Apache 2.4.20, MariaDB 10.1.13, and PHP 5.6.20). Perl 5.22.1 and Python 2.7.11 are also available.
