Video output distorted on Xorg-1.14.7 and intel i810

So, I recently made a FreeBSD 10.0 install on an old 700MHz Celeron that I had previously been using to level the couch. I've gotten Xorg and twm to work, and I have a proper mouse pointer, proper keyboard and mouse input, but the actual video is distorted and far away from where it should be. Like, if I click in the upper lefthand corner of the screen, a badly extended twm menu appears in about the center of the screen. I've gotten xterm to work, and xterm's output is similarly distorted but everything else works. I've tried it with both the intel and i740 video drivers and gotten the same result both times. The machine does only have 256MB memory bit I figured I would upgrade it if I built an environment I liked enogh. Changing resolution, cycles, etc. None of that has worked, if there's somthing else specific to BSD or something I just don't know about I'd apprieciate some tips. Thanks!

Is it a laptop or desktop system?

Have you used auto button in desktop monitor? Adjust the monitor with H/V controls and friends.

Are you saying desktop is panned very large? If so disable panning. See man page of xorg.conf.

It is a desktop system. An old Dell Dimension. The monitor isn't the problem. I have a clear and proper mouse pointer that corresponds with the screen size. It's any other video output. Monitor works find in curses mode as well.
