FreeBSD diehard fans I had a bad experince

There are a lot of diehard freeBSD fans than on linux. I had a bad experince with thier official forums. They instead of solving the problem just tell us to post in PCBSD forums. As they were not able to reply to it. But the problem was about installing software from ports. FreeBSD is more capable of solving this. They may have command line experience in dealing with the problem I am not into any controversy. These diehard fans can make forums a bad place. I did not reply to the controversial reply. It is just a waste of time arguing around. What will you do if you do not get a reply from a forums. We cannot blame them. They may not be knowing but another forums will answer.I did the same. Linuxquestions.org has done a great job. They always give preference to all distributions. That is the way forward. Aim is to promote linux. FreeBSD seems to have not fully supporting its desktop versions. I will be using desktop versions of FreeBSD. DesktopBSD, PC-BSD but not FreeBSD. This is to let you know

regards

I'm very sorry to hear that - I have also had some bad experiences on the PC-BSD forums.

In general BSD people are more Unix types than the Linux people are, and tend to be a bit more... rigid

Also - BSD is not Linux. They're not even all that compatible with each other in mindset, purpose, and methodology. Just FYI.

If you have some questions on ports, please post them. There are several BSD people on linuxquestions (seems odd, but it's true), and I'm sure we can help. Most of us have been doing BSD since the beginning, or near enough.

There are exceptions though.
I'm running Debian's GNU/kFreeBSD on this laptop (a newbie wouldn't even notice the difference with both using a GNU userland)

The first time I synced my portage tree on a Gentoo/FreeBSD system I couldn't help but laugh. Seemed so...strange.

Well, that's what is so great about the free software movement
You can try any combination any way you like.

How is the Debian BSD kernel package? Being a BSD and Debian fan, it sounds right up my alley

You are right. My friend. They are so rigid people. They dont bother for others. Now i have quit my account with Freebsd forums. I posted a thread(linux questions.org) got a response in an instant. Linuxquestions.org is just wonderful place i am a proud member of it.Thank you very much You understood the situation and shared your grief with me
