Yeah. Everybody knows that on Greece and the Slackware tree are plenty of ancient artifacts...

Yet, this does not mean that those rusty swords and shields are still usable for the purposes they was made.

Ah ha... I did not have KDE/Plasma 5 installed here at-all.

Just now installed all of it.

slackpkg install kde/*

The cursor change now works correctly in FF 125.0.2 when running in _all_ DEs
(KDE/Plasma 5, xfce, fluxbox, blackbox)

But _without_ KDE/Plasma 5 installed on the system.... no cursor change in FF v125.0.2

You got a NOTABUG from my part. Seems like you have an improper system installation for testing of the Slackware development tree.

LOL..... point taken.

But.... I wonder what other 'features' of the newer FF also do not work correctly if KDE/Plasma 5 is not installed on the system.

To complete this, and according to the Slackware-HOWTO:
Code:
If you have the disk space, we encourage you to do a full installation for
best results. Otherwise, remember that you must install the A set. You
probably also want to install the AP, D, L, and N series, as well as the KDE,
X, XAP, and XFCE sets if you wish to run the X Window System. The Y series is
fun, but not required.
I suggest to add this warning to every single package slack-desc

Hi, Pat, i have probably, found the problem, I had compiled qt6-6.7.0 webengine, before updating, cmake and ninja, it compiled perfectly, with the latest cmake and the latest ninja, it no longer compiles, I reinstalled the old versions,(cmake-3.29.1-x86_64-1.txz and ninja-1.11.1-x86_64-1.txz ) and now it compiles perfectly.

but new qt-6.7.1 release date is 07.05.2024:

https://wiki.qt.io/Qt_6.7_Release

i have also added this suse patch:rtc-dont-use-h264.txt

Well, this comment to the bug report shows that the problem is in firefox beginning with v123

I have seen the same problem since version 123 and later of Firefox on a system with KDE4 instead of KDE5/Plasma.
Reverting to version 122 of Firefox fixes the problem.

I never said there is no bug
I just said I heavily doubt Pat will be inclined to modify every slack-desc every time there's an issue

That comment in the bug report was written by me. I saw it on a Slackware 14.2 system (full install, but Slackware 14.2 has KDE4). As this thread is about wishes for the next stable release I did not find the information from EOL 14.2 interesting for this thread.

regards Henrik

I'd like to see an added command line option to upgradepkg that would make it ignore multilib compilers and libraries.

I know what you mean after the recent glibc update, but I think that would be hard to implement. The problem is that those third party multilib packages replace the original Slackware packages. When Slackware comes with a security update of such a package that 64-bit-only security update will replace the multilib package.

The right solution for such a case is not to avoid installing the security update. The right solution is to hope that also our favorite third party package provider is providing security updates for those multilib packages and install them.

Things would be a lot easier if Slackware64 were multilib out of the box instead of just multilib ready.

regards Henrik
