Hello everyone;
First I really regret this posting! Second this is a strange behavior.
Let me also thank brobr for his response, thank you very much. I did see same thread
here
which was dated Jun 26, 2016. This is nor here nor there.
I did try to change themes, I just did not like anyone provided with the sddm package; they look ugly with 2 monitor setup.
I did not try to download new one - I might try one later.
The strange thing about this issue is I have another old current installation on the same machine which does not have this issue. The old current
I had stopped updating when glibc was upgraded to 2.33 and the new "slackpkg" was introduced with black listing packages change, so it has those packages:
Quote:
aaa_base-14.2-x86_64-6
glibc-2.32_multilib-x86_64-1alien (for multi library)
sddm-0.19.0-x86_64-5
xorg-server-1.20.10-x86_64-
|
I down graded sddm package to that 5 build with same result - login screen did not start sometimes, other times it started normally.
There are differences between the two packages "sddm build 7 and build 5". The breeze theme has an extra configure file for user!
The graphic format in the images directory under "wallpapers is different; one has "png" the other "jpg".
Finally the regret part is this not a show stopper issue, I can live with [Ctrl+Alt+Bksp] just about every other boot, I am the only one who uses this machine.
However, I do wonder if anyone else has this issue?
I forgot to mention that I tried the time delay by adding "sleep 10" in /etc/rc.d/rc.4 file just before starting sddm like:
Quote:
# Look for SDDM as well:
if [ -x /usr/bin/sddm ]; then
# sleep 10
exec /usr/bin/sddm

This did not help or solve the issue.
Also sorry about line formatting, next time I post something I will be better about that.
Best regards to all,
Wael
