task automation

I have debian 11.0.0 (bullseye). I want task automation, record and replay, for keyboard and mouse. I tried these:

I ran the examples from the Xnee manual, man cnee, simple_bash.sh,
https://nnc3.com/mags/LM10/Magazine/...e/article.html.
An output file is created, but it does not seem to contain the needed information and it will not play back.
Running from command line or bash file has same effect. terminal says
Workaround: Creating context on data display instead of control
You can ignore this message

man actiona says Please visit http://actiona.tools/ for further information. The site does not work. actiona splash screen says X11 has not been detected!
https://wiki.actiona.tools/doku.php?...x11notdetected

This is the only command that works for xdotool.
xdotool getmouselocation --shell

This is the best I could get from xmacroplay.
/usr/bin/xmacroplay %0
xmacroplay: could not open display "%0", aborting.

To moderator: I posted this thread once before, but it did not show up. So I am posting it again. now, error message says You do not have permission to create tags. You may only use existing tags.

There's very little information included with that program, but based on the customary notation for the X display, I would write it like this instead since you are using the first display on the local host:

Code:
/usr/bin/xmacroplay :0.0
See the manual page "man 7 X" and scroll down to the section "DISPLAY NAMES" for the breakdown.

These work:
sudo apt install -y xmacro
dpkg --listfiles xmacro
dpkg --status xmacro

/usr/bin/xmacroplay :0.0
XTest for server ":0.0" is version 2.2.

man 7 X
section "DISPLAY NAMES"
display name of the form: hostname:displaynumber.screennumber

These do not work:
man xmacro
No manual entry for xmacro

man xmacroplay
No manual entry for xmacroplay

We are making progress, but my problem is far from solved. Do any of these programs work? Are there other programs that will do the job?

It's rare that a package has no man pages on a Debian-based distribution (usually, Debian developers write one if none were provided by upstream). At least, it has /usr/share/doc/xmacro/README
