Icewm: Trying to move taskbar to right

Hello! I'm new to this site and a novice at using Icewm, I want to move to taskbar vertically to the right. Would someone please help me?

I don't use IceWM myself, however, there will be a configuration file for it, & likely, there will be a line in it that sets its position, you will need to look on your system - unless someone else can help.

EDIT: This may help - https://www.antixforum.com/forums/to...configuration/

(Looks like 'taskbar' is what you want.)

Hi fatmac, thanks for the advice but I already know that the configuration file exists for it but the thing is, I can't find an option that sets the taskbar anywhere but to the top(TaskBarAtTop). I should have mentioned it earlier but thought that it'd be better if I didn't so I could get more info that way. Sorry.

You could try setting it to the right, possibly, by changing it, some other WMs allow this - haven't tried myself, so make a back up copy of the file in case it doesn't work. (TaskBarAtRight)

Hi

I am not aware of any horizontal setting
https://ice-wm.org/manual/icewm-11.html

You might be interested in XFCE which has such a setting?

Hey fatmac, already tried, didn't work.
I guess there's no other way. Thanks for the help though

I scoured the manual as best as I could and found no other relevant setting. I think.

And hello aus9 I'm using LXQt Panel which supports such a setting but then got into icewm because it was lighter than openbox and because of its reputed configuration abilities.

Hi WesLinow

thanks for sharing that.....can you expand on why you need a panel if lightness is one of your intentions?

eg Have you considered conky to display the information you need?

https://github.com/brndnmtthws/conky#screenshots

to give some advice it might help you if you show your distrubution (but I don't as I show only my preferred desktop

2) Have you tried Joe's Window Manager?

Hey aus9, sorry for not responding yesterday, I reverted back to using the default openbox wm and the LXQt panel, but I will look into conky and Joe's wm. My distribution is Arch.
Thanks for all the help though! You and fatmac...

As for wanting lightness even though using a panel, it was just a minor interest to see how far I can make my old 2006 system run fast and light while still using a good looking DE.
