Take Your Linux PC Anywhere


Symantec's popular PC Anywhere remote system management tool is getting a facelift. Formerly a Windows-only application, it will now support Linux in both the KDE and Gnome. PC Anywhere is compatible with both Internet Explorer and Mozilla based web browsers.

I prefer ssh........ ever since norton screwed me over when i was back on windows....... i haven't trusted symantec.

ssh for console and vnc for desktop, no need to use Linux version PCAnywhere.

I think this is a good thing. Oh sure, it is possible to do everything it offers without needing to pay for their proprietary software but this might signal a move into the easier administration people are always complaining Linux lacks. All the solutions listed above are great and work... but they require a technical knowledge far beyond the skills of many people who would try linux if they could find an easy way to administer it. Right now, if you are doing any administration these methods seem like nothing at all because the task of properly running a box is probably more involved then the remote connection setup... but this program might reduce the complexity of all that for the new users.

Personally, I don't see a need for it for myself. But if it helps bring others over... I'm all for it.
