Felton, CA vs. Microsoft

On July 4, 2008, this small town will hold a mass install-fest. All computers will be migrated to GNU/Linux and FOSS. They are committed to stay there at least one week and maybe longer.

There are a many distros and applications represented, but they still need the community support we are so well known for.

Check out the sites at

Think about your own experiences with Linux, Windows, and community support of your migration and find a way to volunteer to support this effort. You won't regret it.

Thanks,
Amenditman

P.S. thanks for the redirect

Date correction. Sorry about the confusion. Here's the straight scoop from the "Man on Scene".

". . . Yup, this whole town of Felton outside my window will be invited to know what we already know -- that your computing experience doesn't have to be dictated by the whims of the mandarins of Redmond or Cupertino, let alone restricted by a plethora of proprietary software.

Thanks, Amenditman, for posting this.

One thing, though: The effort actually starts on July 5 with the first of four or five meetings/installfests and the townspeople who choose to participate will take a week's hiatus -- and hopefully longer -- from Microsoft starting on July 28.

Volunteers welcome. We're just "over the hill" on the other side of the Santa Cruz Mountains from San Jose and the Silicon Valley.
