After a lot of years with Ubuntu I switched to Elementary OS 6.1. Unfortunately there is a problem with my USB webcam that I use on video conferences. lsusb recognizes it, the microphone works, but not the camera. Is there anybody who can help? :-)
Thanks for replying! :-)
I used "Camera" (elementary OS app), google's "Hangout", "bigbluebutton" video conference app...
As I wrote: webcam microphone works, camera not...
From what I remember elementary only has its package manager which is limited. Unless The elementary team installed synaptic by default? You can install synaptic by the command-line. You will need webcam software to access the webcam locally.
Hello dave67! :-)
I appreciate your help, but it seems that up to now I didn't describe my problem as needed. I already have 2 apps installed, "camera", that comes with the installation of elementaryOS, and "webcamoid". Both apps recognize the microphone function of the external webcam, but NOT the video function...
It looks to get a kernel bug with this webcam. Not the webcams fault. Please type
Code:
Uname -r
This will show the current kernel being used. I will see how easy jt is to change kernels if need be in elementary. You are using elementary 0S 6 right?
