I am trying to remotely upgrade Debian Wheezy 7.11 to the newest release, but it's not working.

I am getting errors like this when I run apt-get update:

404 Not Found [IP: 199.232.76.204 80]
Err http://http.debian.net/debian/ wheezy-backports/main libp11-kit-dev amd64 0.20.7-1~bpo70+1


My current /etc/apt/sources.list says:

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main

Wheezy when end of life in 2016 and therefore the repositories have been moved to the archives (http://archive.debian.org/debian/). Upgrades are risky and trying a remote upgrade jumping 3 versions is really not recommended in my opinion. If you are connecting to the remote computer using ssh there is a good possibility you will be disconnected. I think a fresh install is the best plan.

No backports are listed in your souces.list. That probably means you have more sources in the sources.list.d directory.
You probably need to remove all the backport stuff (surely wheezy-backports does nopt exist anymore) and try the dist upgrade to the next stable version.
So, possibly this might work:
wheezy => jessie => stretch => buster
reboot after every dist-upgrade and see if everything still works.

since the file has instances of wheezy, it wont reach the update server becuase it does not exist as the previous users mentioned. remove the instances and put jessie in it's place and then upgrade. The jessie repos are still available but only for about 2 more months i believe. Then you will not be able to upgrade wheezy to jessie at all. Follow user ondoho's advice on the debian OS version to follow in upgrading, each time updating the sources.list file. Note that wheezy did not use systemd but newer versions do.
