GNU/Linux hardware part2 - tuxedo computers

Last time I checked it many years ago, it was relatively small, but re-checking it was a kind of wakeup call. The company is definitely doing their own thing, and have a large range of "self-assembled" and designed systems on offer. Perhaps even the biggest and most varied.

I cannot find much information about the company, beyond being based...

A word on partitioning and permissions (for newbies)

Posted 09-06-2019 at 07:53 AM by zeebra

Unless you are completely new to GNU/Linux and/or have no idea what you are doing, ALWAYS use 1. manual partition setup when installing a distro! If you don't you have absolutely no control over what happens, you learn nothing, you (probably) end up with a bad setup and you can't plan for persistence. Besides that, auto-partitioning will usually whipe your whole disk!

There are other setups as well across various distroes, don't use these! MANUAL PARTITIONING IS WHAT YOU WANT. It's...

GNU/Linux hardware part1 - purism librem

Posted 08-04-2019 at 02:22 PM by zeebra

Since there is no place on this forum for GNU/Linux specific hardware. Throughout the years there have been multiple projects etc, some still lives, some failed. Bu I think it's time to start noting down serious vendors and actors as they appear. For my reference and perhaps others.

Anyways, I came over this thread today about a GNU/Linux laptop vendor which also have a mobile in the pipeline. Yes, an actual GNU/Linux mobile. Not busybox/linux, not some other thing, but actual GNU/Linux....
