Polydistroamory

Posted 12-02-2020 at 10:00 AM by zaivala

I know I take a lot of ribbing for my choosing to run so many different versions of Linux on the same machine. I just found myself wondering, how far back could I cut my distros and still be happy? I think the number is currently 4. Linux Mint is always my go-to, Bodhi is what I like to run when the task is not must-get-it-done, OpenMandriva is both an homage to what I started with and has some very fun features, and then probably Feren OS. There have been times I'd only be watching Feren, but right now he has it about as good as it gets, basically Mint with Plasma but better.

Could I give up everything else? I would have to keep my eye on Ubuntu Unity and other stuff being worked on by @rs2009 . I still need to do my show, so I'd be trying other things, have to keep at least one partition open for that. And while Manjaro Cinnamon is really good, I just don't get the idea I actually NEED it for anything.

Maybe if I was a gamer, I would want Manjaro or Pop!. And I have to keep an eye on Pop! because it has a better feed for firmware updates for my laptop.

So now I'm back to 8 distros. Might as well keep 10. Plus the 6 on my desktop, where I "only" have a half-terabyte SSD.
