xfce 4.8 removing of manual taskbar buttons sorting

For almost 1+ year I've considered XFCE to be stable and well-optimized. And, well, it was. As minimalist, I have to note, there were two bugs annoyed me from time to time. The first one seems to appeared in 4.6.1 or 2, it was an issue with logging you out anyway once you pressed "Exit", even if you click "Cancel" later on.
The second one was not in xfce itself but in Thunar file manager, when copying address from bar, it copies as file:/// URL + newline, which gave me headache when pasting into terminal. Well, nevermind, I assume 4.6 tree was pretty much stable and good.
But then, I saw 4.8 is about to release, so I upgraded to 4.7-pre on my experimental laptop. And then someday I've noticed I cannot longer sort taskbar buttons myself. I thought this was a bug so I'll just wait till 4.8 release. I've upgraded to 4.8 after it came out, but still had that. I thought this was some bug again, created a new user with no settings, started X and... wtf? Same thing?! O_o. Ok, ok, I don't really care about this laptop, so I'll leave it as is. It's a magic box, always giving me troubles I can't find source of. nvm.
Then, few days ago I've been installing a fresh gentoo. Logging in to X and... OMG WTF it's really gone! Searching in google gave me many results, and I came to realize this was official removal of feature: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7058
Seems much like a newbie programmer just heard the word "optimization" and dropped features HE does not use himself. Yeah, it became lighter, right? I've optimized it for speed and memory usage, I'm now an optimization expert! PROFIT!
Not to mention panel itself was much smarter before this.
There is a way to bypass this, ofc, say, rolling back to older xfce-panel, but that uses older version of libraries as well, perhaps, conflicting names, requiring either static building or rpath fix, I didn't try this yet.
I was hoping to donate to this project but luckily didn't do that earlier.
