Obligatory Introductory Post

Since everyone sorta introduces themselves in their first blog post, here it goes:
To put food on the table for my family, I manage 170+ high-availability databases and 110+ data-warehousing/reporting databases. Lots of PostgreSQL, lots of (sigh) SQL Server. I'm an OpenBSD fanatic. I love Python, and for kicks I like to learn. I'm currently studying the Intel Software Developer's Manuals and I haven't worked on my sourceforge project (geoxplanet) in quite some time. I'd put geoxplanet somewhere on par with vaporware, only I'm still interested in revising it and adding features. It's pseudo-vaporware, I guess.
I'm currently in the process of writing automation scripts to assist managing the MSSQL databases I maintain (yay Python!). Many of them are not tuned properly and need some TLC. The PostgreSQL databases are fairly well-built and tuned, and my pride and joy is a quad-core 8 GB Dell 1950 (I didn't choose the hardware, but I can't complain) with an external MD-1000 array in a giant RAID 10. It grinds out queries for 50 reporting databases and has yet to give me a peep of trouble.
Ok, enough boring you guys...maybe next time I'll post some PostgreSQL tidbits for community consideration.
