When is a blog a forum subject

Reading the first few blogs on the blog page for the first time I thought, correct me if I am wrong somebody, surely these are forum matters rather than comments about - well anything Linux - or Microsoft - or Mac - or any subject under the sun.
I am not a blogger or reader of blogs apart from those by political reporters and economical analysts etc. However I did read something that might be worthy of comment - or blog.
A couple of days ago the BBC reported on their technology page that Apple were upping prices for new machines with Mac o/s in the U.K due to the fall in the Pound against the Dollar. I do not suppose there are many Mac only users who read LQ and even less who read LQ blogs but if you do and are thinking of buying a new machine with pre-installed Mac and do not want to pay the new price why not think about just buying a new machine - or using an existing one and putting Linux, in whatever flavour grabs you, Ubuntu might be a good first choice to try, at a far cheaper price. Lets face it we are bombarded with woes of the world economy so what better solution or reason do you need to look at Open Source software for your new operating system. And - what better 'stamp of approval' could you have than the British Government. They are advising departments to use Open source where possible.
Well, that's my first blog on LQ. I don't think it would go in a forum question or comment so maybe the blog thing LQ has started is a good move, as long as Forums and Blogs don't get mixed up.
