Hi,

Days before Labor Day holiday and the forecast is for July temps in September. In central Illinois when the temps get near 90° with the humidity above 80% it can be unbearable. Our golf league has moved our start times to 10:00 a.m. That helps a bit and we are not wasting time to get a round in. Today we got nine holes in 1 hr 20 minutes for a five-some. Consolidated the teams to get in before it got to hot.

My putting has gone to the pits lately. Practice, practice...

Too hot to Golf, let alone be outside

Posted 07-18-2015 at 11:27 AM by onebuck

Hi,

It's unbearable outside with temps in the 90s' and the humidity being real high, 80% plus. No relief in sight. So my work is being done inside. Nothing new for Illinois in July. Some corn is growing while some fields are rotting from all the rain.

Most of our local recreations are being hit hard. Golf is limited to walkers because of the wet conditions, old men like me who have health issue cannot walk the courses without potential problems. I walked once a few weeks...

Raspberry Pi B+

Posted 07-03-2015 at 04:44 PM by onebuck

Hi,

I just purchased two Rpi B+, each has a Adafruit case. One has a 8GB microSD with raspbian while the other has a 16GB microSD with raspbian. I will load SlackwareARM onto other microSD to work with it on these systems. Included two power supplies and I got all for $60.00. I am experimenting with the Pi and these additional units will allow me to have multiple setups on the bench. That way I will not need to break down when I need another unit to perform another experimental setup....

My Philosophy of a Gnu/Linux Slackware user.

Hi,

I am a Gnu/Linux Slackware user. And that provides me with a UNIX-like system which affords me a stable Gnu/Linux that I utilize daily. Of late I have heard so many times that I/we can be bullies within the Slackware forum. From my perspective I find this as false and sometimes just that some members do not interpreted or appreciate our direct involvement with a stable Gnu/Linux distribution by our interactions with a friendly community here at LQ.

Do I cause...

Second day of summer

Posted 06-22-2015 at 04:42 PM by onebuck

Well we are having some wet weather here in central Illinois. We are under a Tornado watch until 23:00 with expectations of severe weather throughout the night. I have been through my share of tornado and respect them very much. Preparedness is important!
Sun is shining now but the radar shows the storm traffic/path and we will be hit by some bad storms. I am tired of all the rain. We are at 11.5 inches and this is the last week in June. More than we need.

I cannot get caught...
