Wow has it been that long since I posted here? OK, my trusty Asus X101CH (see other blog post) has been a bit of a dog, granted a hard working loyal and faithful one but still a dog and after putting in a dismal performance when trying to play Minecraft the hunt was on for a replacement. Now I am a sucker for the "transformer" format but I am sticking 2 fingers up at Asus for making the X101 so rubish for Linux! So what next?

The auto config of network setting on the Raspberry is very good but if you want to manually over-ride these settings then there are some clues below, for a more detailed read try here --> https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkConfiguration

file to edit:
sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces
file contents:
auto lo

iface lo inet loopback

# iface eth0 inet dhcp
auto eth0

Lubuntu - SSH & VNC

Spending so much time away from home (booo) means I have to get smarter and remoting into things with SSH & VNC, rather than rip off others work I will just post a link to a rather comprehensive information source:

First of all I must thank the lovely wife Emma who hit the "Google Jackpot" with this one, as anyone with the patience to read the rest of this blog below will know I was "most peeved" with ASUS and their X101CH. After a lull in voice activities my lab is in tatters so its back to square 1.

First of all my SIP solution is based on Asterix/FreePBX .. I would like to be a CLI purest but I don't have the time and FreePBX has served me well. http://www.freepbx.org/ I would recomend downloading the app / linux distro as one package and either run it from an old box or a VM.

Setting up the external conectivity through a typical NAT firewall arrangement...
