Why I still have Windows installed

Posted 12-02-2010 at 01:02 AM by Gaidal

* iTunes. I have an iPhone (3GS) and don't know of a way to sync it from Linux. There seems to be support for iPods but not for the iPhones. According to what I've read when googling the issue, iTunes doesn't work satisfactory under Wine either.

* VPN. I decided to live in China for some reason, and until I figure out what to do about that, I'm stuck with restricted (and assumedly monitored) internet. Windows has this app called Freegate which lets me access youtube and get my share of contemporary culture every now and then, or other blocked sites.
Note that I'm not saying that I don't believe Linux can do this much better, I just that I personally don't know how to. I tried to set up a tunnel through a friend's OSX server, but never got it to work. And I'm sure I could install a VPN client easily, but I wouldn't know where to point it, et c.

Eventually I'd like to set up Windows XP in a VM. I wonder how slow that would be on an Intel Atom...

Intel Atom is only just for business and travel purpose only. Again it depends on model. Don't do any R&D. Install the Hardware vendor supported OS.

If you really know Linux then you can use Linux. Because Its free and powerful that windows.

Note: New user's don't try Linux while you are in a business travel.
