rsyncd and ntpd in xubuntu 7.10

Hi,

I could not find those - rsyncd and ntpd - using Add/Remove applications GUI nor with apt-get.

Is it available under the distro? How would it be possible to install?

Thanks :)

The rsync daemon just uses the rsync command with the --daemon option. I've not used Xubuntu, but in the regular Ubuntu 6.10 the default install included a /etc/init.d/rsync file, which was controlled by /etc/default/rsync. While listed to "start" in /etc/rc2.d, the default configuration file prevented the daemon from actually starting. Check and see if it isn't the same way on your Xubuntu install.

ntpd is included in the ntp-simple package. You might also want to check out ntp-server and ntp-refclock.
