Flash Player doesn't work in Suse 9.3!
I have some strange behaviors with Flash Player after clean installation of Suse 9.3. This behavior was reproduced on two independent x86 systems. Both Firefox and Konqueror no longer recognize/utilize Flash Player. I did try a FP install from source but that did not change any of the noted behaviors. Also, in Konqueror, I did scan for new plugins.
Although I'm not a fan of busy web pages, FP is necessary to view some correctly. Anybody have this problem and a successful resolution? |
Flash seems to working for me without doing anything special. Do you have a link for a site that uses flash that does not work for you?
Did you get the 4 Multimedia Option Packs from YOU? Maybe that might be related? |
Are you by chance using x86_64? If you are the plugins won't work. You will need to uninstall your current browser and put on the non 64bit one. The plugins are only 32bit so you need a 32bit browser to have plugins work inside the browsers.

I had the same problem with SuSE 9.3 on a 32bit platform, allthough some sites worked, but the most didn't (e.g. nasa.org).
The problem is that there are two flashplayers installed, the Macromedia one and the Open Source GPLFlash one. What I did was uninstalling both and manually installing the version (rpm) from http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/...ShockwaveFlash Maybe only uninstalling the GPLFlash or the Macromedia Flashplayer will also work. I think SuSE made a mistake to include the not yet mature open source GPLFlash. Cheers, J |
Problem solved
Thank you. Your suggestion of uninstalling the both the GPLFlash and the Macromedia Flashplayer, and then reinstalling only the Macromedia Flashplayer, solved the problem.
