I disabled the first, but I do not see a #media-remoting flag. I have disabled a few others but none disable the upnp polling, or whatever name it goes by.

Anyone have another suggestion?
This can be disabled only by root. Root can create the file
Code:
/etc/chromium/policies/managed/disablemediarouter.json
that contains
Code:
{ "EnableMediaRouter": false }
The name "disablemediarouter" can be changed, but the rest of the path should not be altered. The policy will appeare on
Code:
vivaldi://policy

Vivaldi seems to have finally won me over as well :-D

Still in early tinkering stage, however,

I second that request

And would add a second : some poorly made website doesn't display correctly it's favicon. That's quit annoying while it's pinned. Is there a way to customize the icon on a (pinned) tab ?

Thanks for any hints !

Vivaldi 2.5 is out with Razer integration for gamers:

Quote:
Today, we launch Vivaldi 2.5 which brings a first-of-its kind integration with Razer Chroma, the world’s largest lighting ecosystem for gaming devices. With this unique integration, you’ll enjoy a thrilling and immersive browsing experience with lighting effects on Chroma-enabled devices.

I have been following Vivaldi since the beginning and agree, it is a great default browser now. Not having to install a plug-in or do chrome:flags to turn on .mht webpages saving is awesome. I save webpages, mostly news, everyday for archival purposes. Firefox and Pale Moon plugins for this are not as archival and lower quality. It is silly but I do like the coloured tabs and eye candy.

I found at least how to do that in a post on vivaldi.net forums :

Code:
just type chrome://settings/manageProfile into the address bar
As "simple" as that ;-)

Hello,
Because of nice things that have been said about Vivaldi browser in this thread, decided to try it as well. And found an interesting bug on Slackware. I have used Ruario's script to repackage deb package into tgz.

Now, if I first boot or restart my PC and then fire up Vivaldi, it says that I don't have internet connection (while I surely do. NetworkManager is connected, I can browse on terminal, etc.) until I fire up some other browser like Firefox and open at least one page. Then suddenly Vivaldi starts to be able to browse as well. Not sure how to troubleshoot further...

As for browser it self, the interface is really nice! But I am still uncomfortable with that Crhome/Chromium engine underneath. So it won't ever become my main browser just because it is just ShitKit in nice clothes, haha

Anyways, it is nicest chromium skin ever and is totally usable. I am happy to have it as a nice secondary browser, for all those pseudo shady pages and for ability to save and open mhtml files, which was a killer feature of the old Opera. And I have collected valuable information which is not hosted anymore by the help of it. And now to have a modern browser with such feature is great!

P.S.
I thought that Vivaldi was supposed to have it's own unique engine. How come they went same way as original Opera team?

I am not sure that this is a bug since I can't reproduce it. Vivaldi is my main browser on all my machines and it has no problem starting on boot, opening it is the first thing I do. Maybe someone else can explain what might be going on here.

Can we verify these claims by reading the code?

I'm not the person to ask, orbea. ruario is way more qualified than I to do so.

i was very enthusiastic about Vivaldi and really had fun using it. However, I could not make it inherit my GTK theme (like Chrome does). For a browser that advertises itself for its customizability, this was pretty weird.

Yes surely but he's not very neutral (interested party)

Probably, help yourself: https://vivaldi.com/source/
But beware, as far as I know Vivaldi is almost open-source i.e source code is not available for all its components...
