swaret - current

For those wondering about using swaret to upgrade to current, well it works. Being a hard core nix guy I always downloaded packages and used Slackware packages tools to install or upgrade. There was a thread yesterday about using swaret. I have not used swaret much, just here and there, I thought what the heck. I followed the notes by member iotc247;

* I had the latest kernel and modules install already.
* swaret.conf: change VERSION=current
* swaret.conf: copied some ROOT=<url> mirrors to the dependency section and prefixed those with DEP_
* Get out of X and run Slackware at the command prompt.
* login as root, (or sudo)
* # swaret --update
* # swaret --upgrade -a
* get a beer
* I think the upgrade did a dep check, not sure, but I ran it anyway.
* # swaret --dep
* done.
I noticed current uses Xorg and xorg.conf, not X11Config. So I used my old config.
* Saved all the xorg.* to /etc/xorg for future reference.
* # cp /etc/X11/X11Config to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
* login as myself.
* startx

Absolutely no problems. Network cups, samba, sound, and well..... everything working as I can see so far. This is for KDE and can't comment for any other desktop. Someone else can fill in the gaps.

Thanks to Pat, the swaret crew, iotc247 and Frank_Drebin.
