LinuxQuestions.org - PCI Bus Error: HELP!!

Everything was working just fine until I tried to install my D-Link card, one that doesn't have a Prism chip, but an TI chip. I compiled and installed the drivers without any problem and everything worked fine for a couple of hours until the computer totally froze ( I had a huge Windows flashback at that moment). I thouhg the problem might be on the new driver module, so after rebooting I try unloading it. No luck, a couple of minutes or hours (it varies) the system froze again. Perhaps the card is faulty, I thought (though I had tried it succesfully under windows), so I remove it and all went back to normal.

But, since I had serious doubts of the card being faulty, I tried something I had read in some forum, about shuffling cards around to prevent irq mastering problems or something of the sort. I only have two PCI slots, so I tried exchanging the ethernet card in slot 1 and the wireless card in slot 2. I got them both running, only this time I redirected kernel error messages to tty 8 so I could check if anything should failed. Let it run for a couple of hours and......bang!!! it failed again, only this time it didn't froze. The kernel issued the following error messages:
eth1: PCI bus error, bus status 80000020
eth1: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 0000
eth1: too much work in interrupt, status e003

I still have to test running just one of the cards on slot 2 to discard the possibility of PCI slot 2 being faulty. Howver, I would like to hear some opinions and ideas.
My system config: kernel 2.4.26, Slack 10
