lilo problem!!!
 

Hi!
I have some problems with my lilo...
When I start the comp i get the following message:
LILO - Keytable read/checksum error

The silly ting was working fine untill I tried to compile a new kernel (don't try to fix things that's working...)

Anyone seen this before? What to do?

Did you run /sbin/lilo after changing it for your new kernel?

You can choose your old kernel and boot with that can't you?

I remembered to run /sbin/lilo yes...

Well... I can't boot at all, after the bios scrren disapers i get LILO - Keytabel.... and it just sits there... :(

It seems as if it's time to learn your distro's crash recovery proceedure, then.

Well... I got the thing working with the old kernel, but the new one isn't working at all... not even when it's the only boot option in lilo.conf, but as soon as I put in the old kernel (the only boot options is the old kernel and my win2k) it works... :confused:

I'm going to experiment alitle more...

I can't remember how many times I compiled my kernel before I got it to work. It seems like it was in the teens, but was probably 5 or 6 times.

It's much easier in Gentoo than trying to get Redhat or Mandrake with all those other screwy files they need besides the bzImage or whatever.

It's not hard after you learn where your hardware support is located and figure out whether to use a module or not.

Remember to load the modules you will need if you chose to make modules for anything.

Also, make sure you compiled support for framebuffer if your /etc/lilo.conf has vga = 771 or some other number in there.
