where can i find the file to tweak the /sbin/ldconfig file?
is there some kind of documentation for this anywhere?

hm... i'm not sure.

what i mean is this:
/sbin/ldconfig is run as part of the boot-up script.

i would like to see the file that controls /sbin/ldconfig

/etc/rc.d/rc.M is the script your looking for. It's a good idea to read all the rc scripts, they all have a brief description of what they do at the start and notes on other functions all through them.
