Keyboard question
 

I have a genius keyboard that has 3 buttons ( on/off , standby, and the third i don't know) . I never used them , neither on windows nor on linux and since i'm having a shutdown problem (i can't turn off my computer like i used to ...now i have to switch power off from the stabilizer box because my on/off button doesn't work at all ) i would like to know if i can make any use of these buttons . lastly i also would like to point that yesterday i tried one of them at logout and i got this message:

would it be possible to make them work at all ? thanks

BTW can anyone tell me if i have to change anything on the bios ( cause i set it to default mode ) so that i can correctly switch my machine off ?

I downloaded lineak (lineakconfig.tgz) but i'm having a small problem installing it :

i'm getting about the same message on lots of files
...
...............................some lines from another install of a program to work along with it (lineakd.tgz)

does these lines mean i have to give the said permission to all the above in order to proper install ? thanks

Try unpacking it in your home directory, you don't have to unpack software to a specific place and you can do an install from your home.
