Intel HD 4000 graphics card: 3d acceleration?

Hey all,

I have a new machine (i7 3770) with Slackware64 14 installed on it. It has a PCI express nvidia card, but I wanted to test the integrated HD 4000 intel chip. I chose the card from my bios menu, and Slackware booted as expected, but now KDE has all effects disabled and a game I tried to run failed with some glx error.

Shouldn't 3d acceleration work out of the box with this card? The Arch wiki mentions an intel-dri package. Is this part of slackware's xf86-video-intel package? It also says that a configuration file is not needed.

Suggestions?

Did you ever install the 3D drivers for the nvidia GPU? If so, you must remove them before you can use acceleration on the intel GPU.

Intel cards work with KMS. To use it, include 'intel-agp' and 'i915' into your Initrd. I do it by adding them explicitly to the MODULES="" line in /etc/mkinitrd.conf.

Cheers,

Hi guys, and thanks.

As Adam pointed out, the nvidia blob was the problem.

PS -- Wow the Intel card is slow for games...
