You should read the Kali links in my posting signature, as well as the sticky posts in this very forum related to Kali. Kali is for advanced Linux users, and even then should only be used for pentesting/security testing...not for daily use, and their own website tells you this.
Beyond that, you don't tell us what you actually did, but post a link to their website with the exact steps to take to do what you want. So either you didn't follow those steps (in which case, the solution is for you to follow those instructions), or you found a bug in their docs. In which case, you need to tell the Kali folks about it. You can post what you did/tried in exact terms, and what the results of those commands were, and we can try to assist, but as written, there isn't much we can do.

Welcome to LQ,
Does it save anything? If not, then suggest review and retry their instructions. If still not, then contact the Kali persons on their site for some support.
If it saves some stuff, but not settings, then contact the Kali persons on their site, report that the outcome doesn't do what the wiki says it should, and ask for some support.
That wiki was updated on June 22nd of this year, and it cites the authors. Suggest reaching out to them, who are the experts and who wrote that instruction wiki.
