I just purchased suse linux 7.1
I have some extra hard disks.
I erase all the information and then preformed an fdisk.
I then inserted linux boot disk and the linux installation cd #1.
I set the bios to boot a drive, cd rom, hard drive, in that order.

all I get is operating system not found.

How do I remedy this.

Please reply

If your refering to the first drive as your flopy drive, try booting to your cd-rom instead. Linux can boot from the cd-rom to start the install.

He is not that far----the way I read it, he is not even getting the install CD booted.

For OP:
You said boot "drive, CD and then hard drive" What is first--floppy?

When it says OS not found, that often means that nothing was found in the last place it looked---in your case, the hard drive. This in turn means that it would not or could not boot the CD.

First, try the Install CD on another machine to be sure it is actually bootable. Then, double-check your BIOS settings to make sure that booting from CD is enabled.

Where???!!! 7.1 is quite obsolete.
If you go to try some other version of Linux, don't pay for it---there are LOTS of free distros.
