What do you use for the network analysis software? I was looking for like an ISO i can spin up with a VM and use something around web-based gui to monitor the network state connections.

The answer depends on what precisely you are trying to measure, for example, uptime, bandwidth usage, "hits" or connections, etc.

The tools I use most frequently are ping and traceroute, because I'm usually looking to test the reliability of my connect. Next would probably whois for me.

Here's a good intro. And here's another that might be more what you are looking for.
