Smp Enabled?

i reloaded suse 9.2 with gnome. i got 2.6.8-10smp kernel thru yast. when i go to system monitor, it still shows one cpu working on the chart. ubuntu, fedora and others show two cpu's working when i loaded and ran them. any answers? is it a bug? i might email suse support and see what they say. what do you think?

here ya go masand

2.6.8-24.10-smp #1 SMP Wed Dec 22 11:54:27 UTC 2004 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
...................................................................................................
before and after i loaded the kernel it didn't matter.
is the difference between i686 and the i386 mean anything?

thanks...

u surely have the smp enabled kernel running

the packages that we use are some architecture compliant
i386 is an older architecture
i686 is a newer one(P II i think)
so the packages that are i386 compliant can be installed on all machines having architecture i386 or greater
while i686 compliant packages can be installed on machines having architecture i686 or greater

regards
