All icons disappeared from the desktop

I installed two X win managers, afterstep and blackbox..
Blackbox seems to be great but all icons just disappeared after i installed it, or maybe after afterstep was installed..

I also got xicewv or whatever the name is and some other manager too.. Not gnome and KDE tho
Are icons put in a special folder somewhere?
How do i get them back?

Im using slackware (vector)

there are not desktop icons in blackbox and afterstep

Plankt 09-20-2003 01:55 PM

oh ok.. blackbox functions without them, no problem there...
but the icons also disappeared from icewm and cde but ill just use blackbox..
Another q; how do i add programs to blackbox's menu? Is it possible without bbconf, i coulndt get that one to install..

you need to edit the file
.blackbox/menu
in you home directory

if you want to add a program you need to add a line like this
[exec] (netscape) {netscape}

the syntax is
[exec] (program name) {command to run program}

most of the programs are in submenu's, they are written in this format

[submenu] (submenu name)
program commands in here as above
[end]

it will be easy to understand once you look at the file.

nb. info should be right but i use fluxbox, it is based on the blackbox code and virtually the same but with a few improvements. i reccommend you try it.

i don't think icewm or cde have desktop icons either
