Trackpoint erratic on ThinkPad R31 2656-6FU & SuSE 9.1

I have recently been trying to install SuSE 9.1 on a ThinkPad R31 2656-6fU, but am having problems with the trackpoint While SuSE installs fine, when I try to use the Trackpoint, the cursor starts jumping aroud eratically, and opening various windows and apps, etc. This computer had previously worked well with SuSE 9.0. I have tried various configurations of XF86Config, but nothing seems to help.

Any ideas?

I have found the solution. It requires the kernel parameter "i8042.nomux=1". The trackpoint is quite stable and usable now. The easiest way to add that, is to type it into the "boot options" box, when starting the installation.
