Toshiba Satellite C850 and WiFi

I'm considering buying a Toshiba Satellite C850 and installing Ubuntu. I've read here and on other forums, that Linux is dodgy with WiFi. Are the problems easily correctable? Or, are they permanent?

As I can see from the product specification (which can of course change in laptops without further notice) that device has a Realtek wireless chip. Those usually work pretty well in Linux. It may be necessary to compile a driver for it (Realtek offers Linux device drivers), but usually those things work out of the box.
