Keypad and Touchpad not working on Lenovo 3000 Y 500 notebook
 
I have a fresh installation of RHEL5 on my notebook. Everything was working fine.Just after configuring the YUM server when I restarted my notebook, I found that during the bootup Keypad and Touchpad doesnt work and displays an Error- Failed to load X Server !!!!

Please help me out as I am new to Linux !!!!!

Hi.Am replying as i see no one has,while i dont have an answer for u i can say that ubuntu 10.04 runs very well on my T400 lenovo.Wether they are similar i dont know but perhaps u could try a live disk test of ubuntu and see.Good luck

go to gconf-editor via run application. browse inside apps->metacity and browse their as your need. You can also find other options in the gconf-editor.

Sorry, but did you read the OP's post?? The X server isn't working, so how can you run a X/Gnome application?

divymohanshorey, unless you've got a VERY specific need for RHEL and/or are paying for support from RedHat, load a different OS. RHEL is for server-class machines, and laptops are much better supported by 'open' distros, like Ubuntu, openSUSE, Mandriva, etc.

Since X isn't working, chances are something got clobbered. If you looked on Google, or on RedHat's knowledgebase, you'd find much on how to configure X, and get it working.
