Inspiron 1545 BCM4312 bluetooth not working
I have Dell Inspiron 1545 with a BCM4312 WiFi/Bluetooth card. I have installed LMDE 6 (I can't seem to get on with Ubuntu or its derivatives) and the Bluetooth does not function, whereas it did under Windows.
I have installed broadcom-sta-dkms and firmware-b43-installer. hcitool dev gives nothing. inxi -Nn gives: Network: Device-1: Marvell 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet driver: sky2 IF: enp9s0 state: down mac: 00:25:64:54:de:fb Device-2: Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY driver: wl IF: wlp12s0 state: up mac: 00:22:5f:fc:95:52 lsusb gives: Bus 008 Device 004: ID 090c:1000 Silicon Motion, Inc. - Taiwan (formerly Feiya Technology Corp.) Hi
It seems that you need to install a firmware config file for the driver for the BCM4312. Chek it at https://wiki.debian.org/bcm43xx |
Thanks for that. I'll look into it. I did look at the MX Linux instructions, as that is based upon Debian, but they seem to suggest a different driver completely. Ho hum...

The OP didn't supply us with the name of the Distribution that they are using.
Could the OP please provide us the name of the Distribution that he/she is using? |
I did, actually. It was LMDE 6. I have since found out that although the BCM4312 is a dual function device, BT is not enabled on those machines and an extra module had to be installed. It's on order now and its Broadcom again. Another fight on my hands, I suppose...
