YouTube now defaults to HTML5 <video>

Good news, thanks. I use firefox 31 (esr version), but if I spoof the useragent for youtube.com to look like firefox 36 it tells me it will use HTML5, and it does, and everything works. Without cookies or addons, nice.

Now if I could only ditch Chrome to use Firefox to play Netflix...

I'm on Firefox 36. Going to the youtube.com/html5 show's I have 3 of the 6 boxes checked. Chrome show's I have all 6 checked.

You can up this to 5 if you set "media.mediasource.enabled" to "true" in about:config.

But netflix needs the encrypted media extensions, only chrome has these.

Thanks for the tip! So now it's just "MSE & H.264" that's not checked.

YYYEEESSS!!! Let's hope that other websites follow their lead and drop adobe flash for good.

As if - youtube has had the option to use HTML5 for ages, I've never had a problem. The rest of the web, that's any story ... :(

After the world ends, the only thing that will be left are roaches and Flash.
