Who is that who associates and diaassociates the PDF format with a PDF reader? I suspect it's window manager.

Usually file associations are made by the file manager. Many file managers, when you right-click on a file, give you an option to associate the file type with a different program.

Well then, assuming I use Xfce 4.10 and Firefox 24.1.0, who do I tell to make a _disassociation_. I want to disassociate every PDF reader in the system from format PDF. Any way to do it?

Please select a technical forum for questions that involve technical issues.

"Non-*NIX Forums > General" forum is for things like weather and puppies and marshmallows.

Non-*NIX means not part of unix, linux, irix and such.
