Need a distro recommendation for Dell Latitude E6420

Hi Everyone. I recently got a refurbished Dell Latitude E6420 for free.
The specs of the laptop are i5 2520M, 8GB RAM single channel, 500GB HDD, 54Wh Battery.
It has Windows 10 preinstalled. But it is quite buggy(screen flickering at low brightness, random hibernation even at 100% or plugged in) and freezes sometimes.
I am planning to learning android app development as well as linux with this laptop. I also need to develop an app since i recently won "Best Idea" award at a local Hackathon for my app idea,..so i want develop an app based on that idea now,..
I had experiences with Ubuntu in the past,..but i am not sure which distro would be suitable for my needs right now,..
Please help me out with your suggestions,..Thank You

First of all you should figure out whether the "bugginess" is hard- or software related.
Because, what is the point in installing Linux on a broken computer?

Assuming it isn't broken:

According to this it might have an Nvidia GPU - careful with that!
Even the more powerful i5 is only a dual core? In that case Ubuntu is out, I'd say. Maybe Xubuntu.
Keeping in mind the possible need for proprietary drivers, Linux Mint might be a good choice. Unless you're cool doing that manually, then your choices are much larger, but keep in mind that this machine is "old".

First of all thanks for replying this quick
Now onto the topic
About your 1st question,..i really don't know how to check that,..is there any way for that??

I used cpu-z to check the specs it didn't show any Nvidia GPU present in the machine.

By "manually" did you mean linux mint installation??,..If yes ,..i am sure i can do that...

What about Arch Linux??Will it be suitable??

All Intel then? Great, that's good news. No need for Linux Mint then. Just browse the link I gave you.

For newbies asking questions like that, no.
