Preferred Applications/Program defaults for FC3

Hello,
I've posted about this before, but only got an answer for KDE while I use gnome. I've searched around the forums and can't find any other posts about this so I can only assume someone/everyone else has a solution.

My problem is that I don't know how to set default programs used to open up certain file types. I used to be able to do this in FC2 by right clicking on the file and then going into the file type preferences. In FC3 I can't seem to do this. I am aware of the preferred applications under preferences but these only let me set a few defaults.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is information here on configuring MIME types in Gnome.
Also, here are my Google search results, there seems to be a lot of information on this and these other sites may come in handy.

First, thanks a lot for your reply.

This seems too complicated to do something this simple. I mean, I am capable of doing what is required, but it seems like a step backward since in the version of gnome bundled with FC2 I could do this through an easy-to-use gui. Does anything like this exist?

I'm such a tool...

Wow, this one could not have been easier. You right-click on a file of the specific type, click properties, then go to the tab that says "Open With". As for me, I think I'll be okay. It'll just take a while for me to get over this one.
